Wordless Wednesday – Church Campout

Annie and Matthew lead songs around the bonfire.

We had a wonderful weekend in the Big South Fork National Recreation Area during the annual camping trip with Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church. Helen and I look forward to this trip every year when we get an opportunity to be with the young people in our congregation. The fall colors were glorious, the gatherings were inspirational, and the food was incredible. I’ll let the pictures tell the rest. (Click on any image to enlarge)

    1. Hey, Donna,
Thanks to you for checking in. It was a wonderful time with many great families, and the fall colors were incredible. We take this trip every ear; this is the first time in a long time that we have had no rain. Helen and I represented the “young at heart” crowd, LOL.

    1. Good afternoon, Mary,
Glad to know you made it home safely, and we look forward to reading about your trip. Helen and I never miss this trip with our church family, representing the old folks as well as we know how. That fluffy white dog made it into almost every picture. Have a great weekend. Joe

  1. Joe, it looks like a delightful weekend with your church family! I love gathering with friends around a campfire. So glad you and Helen have been getting out and enjoying the fall colors. We’ve been following fall for at least six weeks now as we’ve made our way south from Michigan, but I think we’ve just about run out of fall weather and color as we head back into Florida tomorrow. 🙂

    1. Hi, Laurel,
We were surprised to find so much color at the elevation of Big South Fork and thought it would be relatively sparse. Nevertheless, Mother Nature held on to the red, yellow, and orange hues for another week and gave us a grand show. If you hurry, you might see some color in North Carolina, but stay safe and don’t push it. Can’t wait to read more about your trip. Have a great weekend. Joe

  2. Helen looks like one of the kids. So glad y’all did this. The weather looks stunning. This fall has been a gift You are right about the food.., in that setting, food is fabulous!!

    1. Good morning, Ann,
We have five couples that go a day early to get an extra day in the mountains and help set up. One of the ladies in our group is a gourmet cook who prepares a beef tenderloin meal, scallops with maple sauce, marinated mushrooms, and more. It is a real highlight. Thanks for checking in.
