Memorial Day Salute to Our Heroes in Song

Old Glory Salutes our Heroes

For this Memorial Day, Easin’ Along created a video out of our photo library to acknowledge our Creator and the gift He gave to us–America’s staggering beauty.  We dedicate this video to our fallen heroes and to those brave souls at the forefront of the fight against this pandemic. You have our utmost gratitude and sincere thanks.

    1. Hi, Liz,
We both used Dr. Michael Holt at UT. I could not recommend anyone more highly. Good guy–fabulous surgeon. (865) 546-2663. Good luck. Replacement is not fun and the recovery ain’t easy, but it works.

  1. Joe,

I changed my e-mail address last year and haven’t been able to get your Friday messages…and I really miss them. I have tried many times to get hooked back up but to no avail. Could you maybe get me re-connected from your end? If so, my e-mail is:
    kevynb@myactv.net

    Eternally thankful…love your blog.

    1. Kevyn,
Thanks for the kind comments and great to hear from you. I checked and you are still shown as a subscriber at the same address you just gave me. I don’t know why you haven’t been receiving them–everything looks in order. I have no way of placing you on the subscriber list on my end, but I hope you will continue to check in. All the best. Joe

  2. Thanks so much for the beautiful Memoial Day Salute. The Knoxville High School Choir always closed concerts with the Battle Hymn and my church choir also performed it on occasion. But it seems years since I have heard it performed. If that doesn’t lift your spirits, nothing will!

    1. Hi, Barbara,
I agree that the song is very uplifting and seems especially so when performed by military bands. Great to hear from you and hope you’re doing well. Joe

  3. Thanks Joe for the beautiful words, song and pics! Being a retired sailor, I especially liked the pics of the USS Boise and the Naval Academy Chapel! Listening to the song reminded me of another challenging time we went through i.e., Sept 11, 2001. We won’t forget all the heroes and sacrifices that were made during and after that event nor should we never forget the same for the pandemic of 2020.
Hope you and your family stays safe and well.

    1. Hi, Ron,
Great to hear from you. You’re so right about those we should never forget. We have a lot of brave people fighting for us here and across the globe. Glad you enjoyed the video. Shortly after I retired, Helen and I took a trip up the East Coast and spent a few days at the Norfolk Navy Base. By chance, we got a quick tour of the USS Boise. It was fascinating, and I learned that, at 6’4″, I would not make it on a submarine. I wrote a blog post about the tour. Here’s a link: http://www.easingalong.com/fun/easin-along-tours-the-uss-boise-nuclear-powered-submarine. Have a wonderful Memorial Day, sailor! Joe

    1. Good morning, Donna,
As a veteran, this holiday moves me more than most. When I went to Germany, several of my Army buddies went to Viet Nam…some didn’t come back. Looking forward to hearing about the Chinese Dinner. Have a great week.

    1. Good morning, Terri,
That’s quite a compliment coming from an excellent photographer. I love Battle Hymn–it’s so powerful when performed well. Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your day. Joe

    1. Good morning, Dave,
Thanks! I enjoyed putting this together. I love Battle Hymn of the Republic when it is performed well. As a veteran, this day is special to me. Have a wonderful Memorial Day! Joe
